Launch of the Kilkenny Legends Return

The Kilkenny Legends Return match which takes place in Pairc Esler on Saturday 21 November was launched at the Quays Shopping Complex on Saturday in the presence of the Liam McCarthy Cup, The Bob O’Keeffe Leinster Senior Hurling Cup and The Hanrahan Leinster Minor Hurling Cup which were brought to Newry by Rackard Cody, a member of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling management team. Chairperson of Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Naomi Bailie was on hand to welcome the distinguished silverware and she congratulated Cumann Pheadair Naofa on hosting the Kilkenny Legends v Ulster Select team in the local district. She wished the club well in their preparations for this unique and historic game. Present also at the launch was Raymond Tumilty, Area Manager O’ Neills’ Sportswear, who presented a specially designed kit for the game including jersey, shorts and socks to club chairman Feargal McCormack who expressed appreciation to O’Neills for their generous sponsorship of the uniquely designed kit.

The   Kilkenny Legends panel will include DJ Carey, JJ Delaney and other representatives from Kilkenny’s illustrious hurlers who will line out in Pairc Esler for the match.

Michael Keenan, Chairman of the organising committee   stated that the excitement is building about the forthcoming Legends game and in particular, the opportunity for our young

people and adults to see at first hand the skills of these outstanding hurlers and to meet with their hurling heroes following the game in the  Cumann Pheadair Naofa Clubrooms. He thanked the Quays Shopping Complex for their sponsorship and for facilitating the launch and expressed appreciation to Rackard Cody for bringing the Kilkenny silverware to the launch.
