Age Group: U12 Ladies

Date: 12th September – 10:00m

Teams: Glenn vs Cumann Pheadair Naofa

Venue: Glenn

Competition: Challenge

The U12 ladies headed off to Glenn on Saturday morning for a friendly match which delighted all in attendance.

For the parents & supporters who attended they got to see how well the girls have developed in such a short space of time. With 7 of the panel unable to attend it left plenty of game time for the 19 girls there.

Although Glenn came out on top with a score line of 2-10 to 0-12, the coaches were delighted with the team performance. In defence Lauren Caldwell was very commanding at full back. She was well supported by both Anne Connell and Katie Quinn with excellent tackling and blocks.  Katie Poland and Emile Kane ran themselves into the ground in midfield, helping their defence and starting many attacks. Katie P helped herself to 2 points over the hour. In attack, Lucy Elmore looked like a chip off the old block, and I dont mean Annette. At times Lucy would have reminded you of her father Glen, winning ball and taking on her defender with lightning speed. Lucy finished the game with a personal tally of 8 points. She was well assisted by Eve Gribben and Hollie Rice who scored a point each and Kate McNeela and Isabelle McFerran who found themselves out in front winning ball and setting up countless attacks.

After the game the coaches praised the girls for such a wonderful game. At this level winning or losing doesn’t count but playing with a smile and showing how your skill level is developing are so much more important. Oh and not forgetting, putting on that Blue Jersey! Next up for the young Blues is a game against Annaclone this week and a return game with Glenn the following weekend.
